Taking a 3 month road trip in a VW Eurovan camper. Climbing. Biking. Hiking. Most of all, living by the Spanish proverb: "In life it is good to do nothing. And relax afterwords." The plan is to go from Canada to Cali, playing in the mountains and water everywhere in between. Ending up in the Bay area starting in November where we'll stay for 6 months in Sausalito. Oh yeah, we'll also take a 2 week trip to Turkey in the beginning of our trip.
The Van (a.k.a. home for 3 months)
Our new home on the road for our 3 month adventure is completely outfitted for the 21st century bum. We have a kitchen with sink, stove, and frig. We've got a dining room. Here's the master suite. And even a spare bedroom upstairs. Shower's in the back. Great views from every window! And you never know what new neighbors you'll have in the morning.
Why are they doing it?
Fair question. Say one day you had to rush home from work because the newsies decided to bring on Windstorm 2006! and the ferry dock, because you live on a island of course, is flooded with about 2 feet of sewage and water, the rain so hard that Diana was soaked from head to toe despite the umbrella, just barely making it on the boat as the ferry workers dodge floaties, to get home and batten down the hatches and prepare for disaster. And say that at about 9 pm, with the wind now really starting to pick up, knocks the power off, and you and the fam decide to camp out downstairs because your bedroom is up there close to the trees surrounding your house, and then say after hours of listening to trees crashing all around you, debris hitting your house, at about 1am KABLAM! your house gets whacked by a Douglas Fir. Power's out for a week. Red Cross sets up a shelter on island, you head for the mainland. What do you do? I don't know what you would do, but when Di came home one day weeks after this mess and said, "Do you want to go on a 3 month climbing trip?" Well I guess you could say our new life began. Sold the house and furniture. Bought a van. Started bouldering on the Leavenworthgranite. Met some really cool people in the process...even this guy...and the journey goes on. Long story short: It's a tree that got us into this thing, so it is into the trees we go!
Thank you!
Molly and Dave for allowing us to use your address and for sending us all our mail.
